Spelunking without a Light

Unfortunately, the trip only allowed for a short visit to Lassen National Park, as we drove north through California. We came in through Reno and took the route through Lassen Park, for a quick experience, on our way past Shasta and into Oregon. During the quick visit to Lassen Volcanic National Park, we had the luck to explore the lava tube caves, but we were so excited to be there that we just ran in…quickly realizing some sort of lighting would have probably been a good idea! Doh! Well, we followed some light-bearing individuals around until we lost them and then had to find our way out of the cave in the dark. Luckily, I was smart enough to wear flip flops and a cave floor is a wonderfully bumpy surface to walk on.
