Living life to the fullest means gaining fullfilling experiences not stuff. But when I say “experiences” there’s a little more to that. A once-in-a-lifetime vacation is not really what I’m talking about. That is more of a “fun” thing, not a “happiness” thing. Let me explain.
When you define your happiness it can’t be based on the achievement of one experience, such as, “I always wanted to make it to New Zealand. Once I do that, then Ill be happy!” Rather, it needs to be more of a lifestyle achievement, one of many experiences.
One of the biggest lifestyle changes necessary for happiness is getting to a point where you have the freedom to do whatever you want. Then, you can go to New Zealand like you’ve always dreamed, but when you come home from New Zealand you can also do the next thing you love.
Here’s a quick list:
- It’s not short-term. Not like a week long vacation, more like a total lifestyle.
- It’s not for other people. It’s for you. Your dream. Typically, this means it’s against the norm.
